THE longevity and ongoing success of Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers are once again reflected in the annual Impact Report containing statistics of Crime Stoppers’ tip line activity for 2023.
The more than 4,100 anonymous tips received in 2023 represents a slight increase over the previous year. More than 300 of those tips were about gang crime activities.
Since the inception of Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers 40 years ago, 8,473 arrests have been made, and half-a-billion dollars in property and drugs have been recovered.
“Twenty-three arrests were made last year that likely wouldn’t have happened without the anonymous tips received by Crime Stoppers,” said Linda Annis, Executive Director of Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers.
“With the ongoing concerns over safety in our communities from gang activity and other crimes, we urge anyone with information on any crime, or any most-wanted criminals on the loose, to call us at Crime Stoppers. We accept anonymous tips 24/7 and in 115 languages.
“We don’t want to know your identity or where you’re from, we just want information that can help police solve crimes. It really works.”
Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS, through the “P3” Crime Stoppers app, online at solvecrime.ca or through Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers’ Facebook page.
