SURREY Police Service (SPS) officers are investigating a ‘shots fired’ incident outside a Surrey business that is believed to have occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, October 6.

The business is an autobody shop in a strip mall that is situated close to a restaurant belonging to the Ustaad G chain, two of whose restaurants have been shot at, including one in Surrey on Monday, October 6 at about 2:20 a.m.

SPS said that in the afternoon of October 6, it received a call from a business located in the 7600-block of Anvil Way that staff had discovered what they believed may be damage to the outside of their building possibly made by gunshots, but they did not know when it occurred.

SPS Frontline officers attended and were able to confirm the damage was made by gunshots. SPS’s Frontline Investigative Support (FLIS) Team has taken over the investigation. At this early stage it appears the shots were fired sometime between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. on October 6. The business was closed at the time and no staff were inside. There were no reported injuries. The incident is being investigated as extortion-related and connections to other incidents are being explored, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident, or anyone who may have been in the area of the 7600-block of Anvil Way between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. and witnessed the shots fired or suspicious activity, or has CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 25-87757 (SP) or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
