Arrest made in North Vancouver dog walker assault investigation

THE North Vancouver RCMP announced on Wednesday that they have made an arrest in the investigation of an assault on a dog walker.

Officers responded on January 23 after a woman reported she was assaulted by an unknown male while walking her dogs in McCartney Creek Park on a trail near Northlands Drive. Cell phone video of the incident was widely disseminated on social media.

In the days following the initial report, a suspect identified himself to police and cooperated with the investigation. On February 11, that suspect was arrested for assault and subsequently released on conditions.

“While we have made an arrest, charges have not yet been laid,” said Constable Mansoor Sahak. “Our investigation continues and we are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact investigators.
