RIDGE Meadows RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying two alleged suspects in an assault and attempted robbery, and is reminding the public about online selling safety in the wake of the incident and amid the holiday shopping season.
On October 10, at approximately 8:15 p.m., police responded to a report of an attempted robbery in the 12400-block of Harris Road in Pitt Meadows. Officers learned that the victim was contacted online regarding a phone he had for sale. When the alleged buyer, and another companion, met up with the victim in the lobby of his building they attempted to steal the phone from the victim. During the altercation, one of the alleged suspects pepper-sprayed the victim before both suspects fled the scene without the phone.
Ridge Meadows RCMP is now releasing photos and surveillance video captured from the incident in the hopes of identifying the two suspects.
Suspect #1 is described as:
- Black male
- Approximately 5’8” tall
- Medium build
- Short black hair and a black moustache
- Wearing glasses, a dark toque, and a black pullover with white markings
Suspect #2 is described as:
- Black or Middle Eastern male
- Approximately 6’1” tall
- Slim build
- Short curly hair with a thin moustache
- Wearing black jacket and track pants

“While the victim is fortunate that they were not more seriously injured in this altercation, this incident does serve as another reminder to follow proper guidelines when it comes to selling personal goods online,” says Ridge Meadows RCMP S/Sgt. Michelle Luca.
“With the holiday season now upon us, we want the public to make informed decisions on protecting not only their personal property, but their personal safety. Use designated safety zones or other well-lit public spaces during daylight hours when conducting in-person transactions.”

- Travel with a friend if possible
- Use the RCMP detachment for online meet ups
- Keep time and distance from people you don’t know
- Trust your gut
