Brampton trucker Manpreet Singh, 27, arrested and charged after CBSA seize 52 kg of cocaine

MANPREET Singh, 27, of Brampton, Ontario, has been charged with importation of cocaine, and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking after the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) seized 52 kg of suspected cocaine.

The CBSA announced recently that on December 4, a commercial truck entered Canada at the Blue Water Bridge port of entry in Point Edward, Ontario, and was referred for a secondary examination.

During the inspection of the trailer, border services officers discovered boxes containing 52 kg of suspected cocaine.

The CBSA arrested Manpreet Singh and seized the suspected narcotics. The RCMP took custody of the subject and the evidence and formally charged him.

The matter is currently before the Ontario Court of Justice, in Sarnia, Ontario.

In 2023, as of October 31, the CBSA Southern Ontario Region seized a significant amount of suspected narcotics at the ports of entry: approximately 1,312 kg of narcotics (including cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin) compared to 698 kg in 2022.
