Burnaby RCMP investigate stabbing and carjacking

JUST after midnight on Monday, Burnaby RCMP received a report that a stabbing and carjacking had taken place in the 9000-block of Cardston Court.

Police located a 19-year-old man who had suffered a non-life threatening stab wound. The victim’s friend was also located at the scene and was uninjured.

Police said it appears as though an altercation took place between the two men and a group of men. This led to the victim being stabbed and the vehicle he was travelling in being stolen by the group of men. The vehicle has since been recovered by police.

Police said that it was too early in their investigation to confirm a motive for this carjacking and stabbing, however, it is believed to be targeted and the victim is known to police.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have seen a dark-coloured SUV or the vehicle the victim was travelling in – a white 2004 Mazda 3 – fleeing the area of Cardston Court after this incident took place.
