Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce: Dhanteras Gala 2023 Celebrates Community Spirit and Achievements

THE Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce hosted the Dhanteras Gala 2023, an evening dedicated to celebrating cultural diversity, community spirit, and unity. The event, held in Oakville, Ontario, was attended by over 600 people from across Canada, including members from British Columbia, Alberta, and Princess Edward Island.

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of 11 exceptional Canadian Hindus who have made significant contributions to the Canada and Hindus around the world. The awardees were honoured for their outstanding achievements in various fields, including business, education, arts, and social service.

The awardees:

– Life Time Achievement – Bhaktimarga Swami

– Global Hindu Award – Dr. H.R. Nagendra

– President’s Award – Dipika Damerla

– Member of the Year Award – Dharmesh Patel

– Female Professional Award – Dr. Amita Sachan

– Business Excellence Award – Ajay Shah

– Arts & Culture – Gowri Babu

– Professional Excellence Year – Nilesh Patel

– Excellence in Education – Rakesh Kantaria

– Social Service Work – Natubhai Patel

– Diversity and Inclusion – Bhagwan Das Gupta

Among those who attended the gala were Anita Anand, MP for Oakville (Ontario) and President of the Treasury Board; Rechie Valdez, federal Minister of Small Business; Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay, MP and Chief Opposition Whip; Nina Tangri – Associate Minister of Small Business – Ontario; MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation, and Trade; and Mayor of Oakville Rob Burton. There were virtual appearances from MP Chandra Arya and Deputy Conservative Leader Melissa Lantsman.

President Nareshkumar Chavda highlighted the organization’s accomplishments, including the launch of the first British Columbia Chapter, the introduction of a comprehensive mobile application, and multiple membership benefit events. He also emphasized the long-term goals of the organization and the importance of fostering business networking among professionals from across Canada.

A key feature of this year’s gala was the unveiling of a new mobile application and companion website designed to enhance the overall experience for attendees by CHCC Director Vijal Shah. These digital platforms offer a range of benefits, including event updates, instant connectivity, and information about future events. Particularly valuable for business professionals, these tools will facilitate connections and partnerships within the community. The app was launched by Anita Anand.

The Gala also featured a speech by renowned global guru, Dr. Shailesh Thaker. The event addressed critical issues such as Hinduphobia through a thought-provoking speech by Daniel Bordman.

In addition to these highlights, the gala included the launch of the Annual Dhanteras Gala 2023 magazine.
