ON the Hindu religious day of Makar Sankranti, over 250 individuals came together online to witness the inauguration ceremony of the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) on Friday.
The Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce is the first organization in Canada to be dedicated to representing Hindu business enterprises, young professionals and other individuals who are at the top of their respective fields. CHCC will look to represent and help unite the very diverse Hindu community.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in his message noted: “The Hindu community has made important contributions to the Canadian business landscape and I am sure the Chamber of Commerce will become an indispensable forum for representation, development, and improvement. This inaugural event of the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce is sure to be a memorable experience.”
The chief guest, Professor Ved Nanda from the U.S., said the chamber will help “preserve, promote, and protect Hindu values and the Hindu business community in Canada.”
Other special guests included MP Chandra Arya, MP Melissa Lantsman, MPP Deepak Anand, Ontario Minister Nina Tangri, Mississauga Councillor Dipika Damerla, Consul General of India in Toronto, Apoorva Srivastava, and Jeffrey Armstrong, founder of the Vedic Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Special video greetings were received from Premier Doug Ford, Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole, Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria, Brampton Trade Board member Kanwar Dhanjal, and Federation of Canada Nepal Chamber of Commerce President Bijay Paudel. Special congratulatory video messages were also received from Hindu spiritual leaders Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Sri Ravi Shankar, Swamy Bharat Bhushan, OP Tiwari and Sadhvi Bhagawati Sarsawathiji.
The event was planned by CHCC President Nareshkumar Chavda, Vice President and acting Secretary General Kushagr Dutt Sharma, Director Kishore Maheswari, Maharshi Jani, Raj Pandya, and Kavita Menon.
