Mumbai (PTI): Promoting a healthy body image, designer duo Rixi and Tinka Bhatia today presented their collection and encouraged women to embrace their curves.
Label Half Full Curve used the wildflower as its inspiration. The designers chose women who are not professional models to break the stereotype of body type, colour and age.
“We wanted women to fall in love with their gorgeous selves. They don’t need to hide those curves but celebrate them instead.
“Even in this collection, we aren’t trying to hide anything under the layers. Every cut accentuates the body in the right places,” Rixa said at the post-show press conference.
Tinka said the age bracket of the models ranged from 19- 81 years.
She added that the floral appliques on fabrics were used in the “body positive label” which “doesn’t make the clothes look boring”.
When asked about her experience on the ramp, the oldest model quipped, “I quite enjoyed myself. I wish women my age start thinking beyond singing bhajans and playing rummy.”
The youngest catwalker at 19 had a philosophy to share after her walk on the runway.
“As a teenager, if you’re plus size, you’re not told that you could walk the ramp. But here, it felt like a celebration.
That no matter what, you have a place in the society,” she said.
The collection included pants, off shoulder dresses, skirts with lacey sheer, flowy kurta pants in greens, pinks, ochre, beige and cream with embroidered flowers.
