CHARGES have been laid against a woman in the death of 16-month-old Macallan Saini in January 2017, following a Vancouver Police investigation.
“The details of this file are just gut-wrenching,” said Constable Tania Visintin on Thursday. “Investigators have worked diligently since this terrible incident occurred to ensure the person accused would be held responsible.”
Susy Yasmine Saad, 41, appeared in court on Wednesday where she was charged with two counts of ‘failure to provide necessaries of life’ and one count of fraud over $5,000.
Macallan Saini tragically died at an unlicensed and unregistered daycare in East Vancouver. Saini was found unresponsive in the playpen.
“As nothing can take away the pain of losing a child, we hope the family can find some closure knowing that charges have been laid,” said Visintin.
Saad has been released on conditions and will appear in court in September.
