Charges laid in Downtown Eastside drug investigation

TWO people have been charged following the Vancouver Police Department’s investigation into the Drug User Liberation Front (DULF), a self-described compassion club that trafficked illicit drugs in the Downtown Eastside.

Vancouver Police said on Friday that they launched an investigation into DULF in 2023, after members of the organization spoke publicly about trafficking heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamines from a storefront in the Downtown Eastside.

In October 2023, VPD executed search warrants at the organization’s headquarters, as well as two homes in East Vancouver. Two people were arrested at the time, then released pending the outcome of the drug investigation.

On May 31, the Public Prosecution Service of Canada approved three counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking against 28-year-old Jeremy Kalicum and 33-year-old Eris Nyx.

Kalicum and Nyx will appear in court on July 2.
