Charges of mischief against 3 persons in relation to incident at Premier’s home

THE BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) announced on Monday that Dirk Ryneveld, who was appointed special prosecutor on March 5 in relation to allegations of mischief and trespass by individuals at the home of Premier John Horgan, has now approved charges of mischief against Howard Gerard Breen, Regine Monika Klein, and Mark William Nykanen. The accused are scheduled to appear on July 15 in Colwood Provincial Court.

Ryneveld is a senior Victoria lawyer in private practice.

The BCPS said: “Announcement of the appointment of the special prosecutor was initially postponed pending completion of the investigation and approval of charges. Following consultation with the special prosecutor and considering the specific circumstances of the case, the BCPS concluded that issuing a media statement announcing the appointment was appropriate at this time. As this matter is now before the court, neither the BCPS nor Mr. Ryneveld will comment further or release any additional information at this time.”
