Christopher Paterson of Surrey charged with child pornography offences

AN investigation led by Surrey RCMP’s Special Victim’s Unit has led to child pornography charges being approved in an investigation which began in April.

On July 5, Surrey RCMP informed the public that 41-year-old Christopher Paterson had been arrested and charged with multiple offences for failing to comply with probation order and failing to comply with prohibition order.

Paterson has been remanded in custody since his arrest on June 19. On September 12, he was charged with additional offences, including:

* Sexual interference;
* Luring a child; and
* Possession of child pornography
Paterson remains in custody until his next scheduled court appearance.
Police said that as this matter is before the courts no further information will be released. There is a publication ban under section 486.4(2) of the Criminal Code regarding the name and identity of the victim in this case.
“The investigation into this incident remains ongoing,” said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, Media Relations Officer with Surrey RCMP, on Tuesday. “Surrey RCMP encourages citizens to be a voice for children who are victims of sexual exploitation by reporting any suspected offences to police or by reporting online sexual exploitation of children: www.cybertip.ca.”
