THE City of Delta has announced the launch of the Barns to Beaches Bike Route, a 16-kilometre cycling adventure that connects Ladner and Tsawwassen—just in time for BC’s Bike Month, beginning June 1.

This scenic route invites cyclists of all ages and abilities to experience Delta’s breathtaking mix of farmland, waterfront views, and vibrant local businesses. Riders will travel along quiet country roads and the picturesque Boundary Bay Dike Trail, stopping to enjoy local breweries, farm stands, cafés, birdwatching spots, and sandy beaches—all highlights of what makes Delta so unique. 

Funded through a $150,000 grant from the Province of British Columbia’s Destination Development Fund, the City has brought the route to life with branded wayfinding signage, detailed route mapping, and additional features to enhance the rider experience. Two bike repair stations have been installed along the route, along with educational signage that shares the stories and significance of the area.

At both the northern and southern ends of the route, informational kiosks have been installed to remind riders that they are travelling through an active farming area and encourage them to share the route respectfully with farm vehicles.

“The new Barns to Beaches bike route is a fantastic addition that strengthens Delta’s year-round visitor economy and community vibrancy by creating new ways for people to connect with the places they visit. I encourage everyone to enjoy the trail this summer, especially on opening day and during BC’s Bike Month,” says Spencer Chandra Herbert, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport.

“Barns to Beaches is a great way to explore this part of our community by bike—including birds, barns, beaches, cafés, and more. With support from the provincial Destination Development Fund, we’ve created a memorable day-trip experience that celebrates Delta’s unique character and encourages active transportation for both residents and visitors,” says Delta Mayor George V. Harvie.
