Connecting seniors to technology survey by City of Surrey

A survey to improve digital inclusion, engagement and access to relevant services while increasing awareness of digital resources in Surrey

THE City of Surrey has launched a survey to gain insight on the experiences, capabilities and barriers that exist within the seniors’ community while using technology or digital services.

“As we continue to depend on technology to serve our community, it is important that we practice inclusivity and ensure that Surrey residents of all age groups have knowledge and access to resources digitally”, said Sahra-Lea Tosdevine-Tataryn, Seniors Age-Friendly Project Manager, on Tuesday. “This survey will help guide future resource needs in support of digital inclusion and strengthen opportunities to help reduce isolation of seniors and support continual engagement”.

While this project is an opportunity for seniors to express their level of comfort with technology, the project will also elevate awareness and improve access to available online resources for seniors. The survey will be open through to February 20 and can be completed online or in a printed format (available at Surrey recreation centres).

The City of Surrey says it is leading the way in supporting healthy active aging through its Age Friendly Strategy for Seniors, a framework that ensures seniors, families and caregivers are supported through advocacy, policy, partnering and service delivery. A representative group of Surrey’s Age Friendly Seniors Network working on this project includes DIVERSEcity, Seniors Come Share Society, Fraser Health, Division of Family Practice (Surrey/North Delta), Surrey Libraries, Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society (PICS), Digital Health Circle (AGE-WELL) and City of Surrey Information Technology and Business Operations.
