Conservatives say Trudeau’s the only “bad actor” to blame for broken immigration system

THE Conservatives in a statement on Monday slammed the Trudeau government for breaking Canada’s immigration system. They said: “Things have gotten so bad that even Trudeau’s Immigration Minister, Marc Miller, accepted that they caused the system to run “out of control.” [Prime Minister Justin] Trudeau’s announcement [on Sunday] that immigration has put “pressure on our housing and infrastructure” is yet another admission of his failure. ”

The Conservatives said that in fact, the Trudeau Government was directly warned by officials in June 2022 that his immigration targets were dramatically outstripping housing availability, but he simply didn’t care. They added that in his announcement, Trudeau only said that his government should’ve acted more quickly to the chaos in the immigration system. “But this mess didn’t just happen on its own. It’s a direct consequence of nine years of Trudeau’s disastrous decisions and mismanagement,” they said.

In their statement, the Conservatives said: “Under Trudeau, Canada has seen the fastest population growth since 1957, which has led directly to the record housing inflation that Canadians are now suffering through. This was a direct consequence of Trudeau giving out a million student visas without paying any attention to how this would affect the country. Now, Trudeau is blaming ‘bad actor’ immigration consultants, but they merely exploited the vulnerabilities Trudeau himself created. The only ‘bad actor’ is Trudeau and his incompetent immigration ministers.

“Now that the NDP-Liberal government is desperately trying to regain control of this program, temporary foreign students are now claiming refugee status in alarming numbers. Already this year, there have been almost 14,000 asylum claims from international students, up from 1,810 in 2018.

“They did this, even though Trudeau’s then-Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser, was warned about the effects of this move. Now, Trudeau is pretending that he opened the student visa to deal with post-pandemic labour shortages. But the International Students Program has never been a labour stream. Nevertheless, there has been a 211% increase in the number of people entering Canada through this program since 2015.”

The Conservatives said that Trudeau couldn’t be trusted to fix the immigration system that he broke. They claimed that only they “will end the chaos and restore an immigration system that works for all Canadians.”
