COQUITLAM RCMP are asking the public for assistance in identifying a suspect who stole a Salvation Army donation kettle stand from Coquitlam Centre Mall located at 2929 Barnet Highway in Coquitlam.

On Sunday, December 3 at 7 p.m., an unknown male wearing a medical mask stole the donation kettle from outside the mall. The kettle was inside the southeast entrance mall doors facing Pinetree Way.

The suspect can be described as a male, 40-50 years old, 5’8 tall and medium build.

He was weaing a black baseball hat, a grey winter jacket with a hood, a grey-scale camo double-shoulder backpack, light grey pants, light grey runners and a medical mask.

When we see this type of crime of opportunity, it’s really disappointing,” said Media Relations Officer, Cpl. Alexa Hodgins. All the money donated goes towards supporting those who need it the most, especially this time of year. To steal it goes against the entire purpose of the red donation kettles.”

Police are asking anyone who has information or may recognize the suspect to contact Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550, and quote file number 2023-32727.
