Coquitlam RCMP seek to identify sidewalk spitter

COQUITLAM RCMP are seeking to identify a suspect who spat at a woman as she was walking on the sidewalk.

Frontline officers responded to an assault that occurred on the sidewalk of Ponderosa Street and Anson Avenue in Coquitlam on Monday, June 24 at 6:15 p.m. An adult woman was walking on the sidewalk when an unknown man spat on her in an unprovoked assault.

The suspect fled the scene prior to police attendance.

The suspect can be described as a white male in his late 40s, 5’6 tall, slim build, and medium-length curly brown hair.

He was wearing a blue button-down shirt with 3/4 length sleeves and tan pants. He was pulling a black bag on wheels.

“This is an egregious and unprovoked assault,” said Media Relations Officer, Cpl. Alexa Hodgins. “We are asking anyone who may have information about this incident to contact our investigators. We are also asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have video, including dash-camera or video surveillance from Monday, June 24, 2024 between 6 p.m. and 7:00 at Ponderosa Street and Anson Avenue in Coquitlam to contact Coquitlam RCMP.”
