FRASER Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Portal Shelter, a homeless shelter located at 46293 Yale Road, Chilliwack, after finding evidence of COVID-19 transmission among staff and clients.
To date, 12 staff and 25 clients at the Portal Shelter have tested positive for COVID-19. Fraser Health is screening staff and clients, and case and contact management is ongoing. Those identified as cases and close contacts have been instructed to self-isolate. Harm reduction and social work support is being offered on-site and to clients isolating off-site.
Meanwhile, Fraser Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak over at the Cove Shelter in Surrey. With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19, there are no longer any COVID-19 cases at this location, it said.
Long term care and assisted living facilities:
Fraser Health also declared COVID-19 outbreaks at The Madison Care Centre in Coquitlam, Royal City Manor in New Westminster, and KinVillage in South Delta.
One resident has tested positive for COVID-19 at The Madison Care Centre, one resident and two staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 at Royal City Manor, and two residents have tested positive for COVID-19 at KinVillage.
The Madison Care Centre is a long term care facility in Coquitlam that is owned and operated by The Care Group. Royal City Manor is a long term care facility in New Westminster that is owned and operated by Revera. KinVillage is a long term care, assisted living, independent living, and seniors supportive housing campus of care in South Delta that is owned and operated by KinVillage Association. The staff members and residents are currently in self-isolation at their homes.
Fraser Health has worked with the sites to support the implementation of enhanced control measures. Fraser Health is also working with the sites to identify anyone who may have been exposed, and is taking steps to protect the health of all staff, clients, residents and families.
