UNFORTUNATELY, for two males who had just robbed a North Vancouver jewellery store on Tuesday, they were being observed by plainclothes police officers who just happened to be in the area.
The two men, aged 43 and 45, entered a jewellery store in the 1500 block of Lonsdale Avenue at 11 a.m. One of the males stood watch while, much to the alarm of the store employees, the other male suddenly jumped over the counter and grabbed an extensive amount of expensive jewellery from the show cases. Both suspects then fled on foot. Staff immediately called 9-1-1 to report the robbery.
Two plainclothes police officers observed the two males acting suspiciously as they ran down the street and nabbed them. However, one of them tried to flee but was nabbed after a brief pursuit on foot. Police recovered all the stolen jewellery items from the alleged robbers.
Two North Vancouver males have been charged with robbery with one of them facing an additional charge of resisting arrest.
Cpl. Richard De Jong said: “Fortunately, no one was hurt in the robbery and all the property will be returned to the jewellery store owner.”
