Darwin Lescano convicted of second-degree murder in death of his mother

ON May 19, 2015, 62-year-old Redelma Belisario was found dead in her Richmond home by family members. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team took conduct of the investigation.

Belisario’s then 38-year-old son, Darwin Lescano, was identified as a suspect in her murder and arrested. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death.

On February 18, 2018, Lescano’s trial by jury began in B.C. Supreme Court.

On Tuesday (March 27), he was found guilty of second-degree murder.

“This was a tragic case and our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Ms. Belisario,” said IHIT Cpl. Frank Jang.

“IHIT is very grateful for the support from our partners including the Richmond RCMP, the Vancouver Police Department and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services,” said IHIT Team Commander, Staff-Sgt. Adam Gander.

Sentencing will be scheduled for a later date.
