David Knox charged in Chilliwack homicide of Chantelle Ruhl

ON April 21, at around 11 a.m., Chilliwack RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious occurrence in the 7500-block of Vedder Road. First responders discovered the body of a deceased female, and the area was closed off for further investigation.

Based on the initial assessment by the Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crimes Unit in conjunction with the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS), the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called out.  The victim was identified as 37-year-old Chantelle Ruhl of Chilliwack.

IHIT said that throughout the course of this investigation, it worked in close partnership with the Chilliwack RCMP and IFIS to identify a suspect, understand the circumstances around the homicide and recommend charges.

On September 6, the BC Prosecution Service charged David Knox with manslaughter and indignity to human remains in relation to Ruhl’s death.

IHIT said that as this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released.
