A deceased body was found inside a tent at the Hastings Street encampment on Sunday night.

Vancouver Police officers were called by Vancouver Fire Rescue Services just after 5:30 p.m. After extinguishing a tent fire near Hastings and Main streets, firefighters discovered the body of a woman inside.

The cause of death remains under investigation. Evidence indicates the woman died prior to the fire starting.

Vancouver Police are working with the BC Coroners Service to identify the woman.
