Dr. Arun Garg receives Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation’s first Lifetime Achievement Award

DR. Arun Garg has received the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation’s first Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation told The VOICE in an email: “As part of the 10th year of our annual Champions of Philanthropy awards, our nominations committee decided to mark the occasion by also choosing a first lifetime achievement award winner. Dr. Garg, who already had been selected a Champion of Philanthropy in 2017, was given the special honour for his decades of leadership in healthcare as well as his partnership with the foundation to create the South Asian Health Fund: 50-Year Legacy.”

Dr. Garg’s citation reads: “With a career defined by innovation, collaboration, and compassion, Dr. Arun Garg, this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and a 2017 Champion of Philanthropy, has dedicated his life to improving health outcomes and advancing culturally responsive care. A visionary leader in laboratory medicine and a passionate advocate for South Asian population health, Dr. Garg has been instrumental in shaping initiatives that bring communities and healthcare systems closer together.

“As the founding program medical director of the South Asian Health Institute and founder of the Canada India Network Society, his work has inspired meaningful change both locally and globally. His legacy is one of connection, building partnerships, empowering communities, and creating pathways for better health for all.”
