SURREY RCMP said on Thursday that the driver involved in a single-vehicle collision at night had died as a result of his injuries.
On March 23 at approximately 12:08 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to the report of a single-vehicle collision in the 13100-block of 72 avenue. A black Jaguar sedan was travelling westbound on 72 Avenue when it lost control and struck the centre median. The 21-year-old male driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite all lifesaving efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries.
The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team has taken conduct of the investigation. Although it does appear that speed was a contributing factor in the collision, a full and complete investigation is required to determine all circumstances that lead to this fatality.
Investigators have finished processing the scene and all roads have been re-opened.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or was in the area around midnight and has dash camera footage, is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file# 2023-44592.
