Extortion-related shooting targets Surrey residence again

SURREY Police Service (SPS) responded to a reported shots fired incident at a residence on Sunday afternoon that was determined to have taken place in the early morning hours of May 24.

On Sunday at approximately 12:30 p.m., SPS was called about a reported shots fired at a residence near 94 Avenue and 127 Street. SPS frontline officers located evidence of a shooting and a canvas of neighbours and witnesses determined that the shooting took place around 1:40 a.m., about 11 hours earlier. The residence was occupied at the time of the shooting. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

The same residence was previously shot at on April 13. In that incident, SPS investigated and 27-year-old Jaskaran Singh Saroye was arrested and charged as a result.

This current shooting investigation is in its early stages and SPS’s Extortion Response Team (ExRT) has assumed conduct. This latest incident is believed to be extortion related.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage of the incident or suspicious activity in the area before or after the incident is asked to contact Surrey Police Service’s non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-51457 (SP).
