Fatal pedestrian-involved motor vehicle collision in Surrey

SURREY RCMP are currently on scene investigating a fatal pedestrian-involved motor vehicle collision in the Whalley area.

On Tuesday at approximately 4 p.m., police responded to a report of a pedestrian-involved motor vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 17. A Ford pickup was westbound on Highway 17, when a pedestrian attempted to cross the highway northbound between intersections and was struck by the vehicle.

A male, believed to be in his 30’s, was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the pickup remained on scene and is cooperating with police. At this time, alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the collision.
