Fatal two-vehicle collision in Langley

ON Tuesday, December 5 at 7:30 p.m., Langley RCMP were notified of a serious motor vehicle collision on 264 Street at 48 Avenue in Langley. Frontline officers responded to the scene along with Township of Langley Fire Department and BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS).

Initial investigation has indicated the driver of a Dodge pickup was stopped in the northbound lane of 264 Street waiting to turn left onto 48 Avenue. A Ford Taurus, also northbound on 264 Street, did not react to the stopped pick up truck until the last minute and swerved into the southbound lane into the path of an oncoming five-ton truck.

As a result of the collision, the Taurus left the roadway and went down an embankment. The driver and lone occupant of the Taurus succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The driver of the five-ton truck was uninjured and remained at scene.

Langley RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) attended along with the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS). CCIT remained on scene with 264 Street closed until approximately 3:50 a.m. on Wednesday.
