“Families across the country will mark the festival by sharing food, reflecting and celebrating good fortune to come. This is a time to rejoice in life’s renewal at the beginning of the new year.

“As well, January is Tamil Heritage Month, a month to celebrate the contributions, heritage and culture of Tamils in Canada.

“On behalf of all New Democrats, I send my deepest wishes to all those celebrating Thai Pongal.”
