A Surrey strip mall in the 10600-block of 135A Street in Whalley sustained major damage as a fire ripped through it around 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As many as 24 firefighters and seven fire trucks battled the blaze. A damaged gas line had to be turned off. No injuries were reported and investigators are trying to figure out how the fire started.
