Fourth Annual “Valley West Stampede” in Langley

Thousands will converge on the Langley Riders Society grounds again this Labour Day weekend, as the Valley West Stampede returns for its fourth year.
With crowds that have grown each year since the first stampede in 2022, and almost 18,000 guests last year, the Valley West Stampede in Langley has quickly become a “must-do” Lower Mainland outdoor family event to celebrate the final weekend of summer.
Presented in partnership with the locally based Langley Riders Society in Brookswood, the Valley West Stampede grounds open at 12:00 noon each day for pre-rodeo fun including “All-Star Wrestling” (new this year) from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, a family carnival with inflatable games, The Frosty Pony Western Store and other vendors, food trucks, and more.
Professional rodeo events start at 3:00 PM Saturday, Sunday and Labour Day. Includes Langley’s colourful Bit-A-Bling Rodeo Grand Entry TeamWildrose Trick Riders from Alberta, the annual kids’ mutton busting event, and even a fans’ foot race inside the arena.
The Valley West Stampede is sanctioned by the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA). Athletes from across the North American circuit come to Langley to compete for $15,000 in prize money available for each of four riding competition events:
  • Bareback
  • Ladies barrel racing
  • Saddle bronc
  • Bull riding
“This is the only stop in southern B.C. on the journey to the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) in Edmonton this October and the National Finals Rodeo (NFRR) in Las Vegas, Nevada in December,” says Sheila Hicks, president of the Valley West Stampede. “We invite everyone to come to #VWS25 to get an intimate experience of the best two and four legged athletes in rodeo history.”
GIVING BACK
The Valley West Stampede has also become a Golden Circle of Champions Canada rodeo this year. For almost a decade, rodeos across North America participating in this campaign provide children diagnosed with pediatric cancer exclusive behind-the-scenes access to experience what it’s like to be a real rodeo cowboy or cowgirl.
Eight-year-old Eliana from Langley is VWS’ first Golden Circle recipient who will be paired with one of the performers all weekend as a rodeo partner. Proceeds from a fundraiser of limited-edition Golden Circle symbolic yellow scarves will support Eliana’s medical expenses and sending her to the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton in October, and the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December. Funds raised will also go to Golden Circle of Champions Canada to support cancer research and awareness of pediatric cancer. Eliana’s story is on the VWS website.
