SURREY Police Service (SPS) has notified the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) following a serious collision involving a motorcycle.

On Friday, August 7 at approximately 3:30 a.m., an SPS officer attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle near the Trans-Canada Highway and the 104 Avenue offramp. The motorcyclist fled into oncoming traffic and collided with a civilian vehicle. The rider was transported to hospital by BC EHS for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. No other persons were injured in the collision.

SPS informed the IIO of the incident and they have asserted jurisdiction.
