Group indoor physical activities and sports at Surrey’s recreational facilities suspended

WITH the new Provincial Health Order issued by Dr. Bonnie Henry at Saturday afternoon’s briefing, all indoor group physical activities at City of Surrey recreational facilities have been suspended to comply with the new order, according to a press release.

Affected activities include:

  • Spin classes
  • Yoga classes
  • Group fitness
  • Dance classes
  • Any other indoor group physical activity that increases the respiratory rate

As per the order, group indoor sports, where physical distancing cannot be maintained are suspended.

Activities include:

  • Hockey
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball

These activities can be replaced with individual exercise or practice that allows everyone to maintain a safe physical distance.

City staff will be contacting affected users and organizations to notify them of the suspension in programming. Notices will also be posted on the City’s website and distributed through social media.

The City will provide updates on any further changes to programming as they occur.
