THE City of Surrey is inviting residents to help shape a new long-term plan for Unwin Park, one of Newton’s most popular community parks. Residents can help ensure the park continues to meet the needs of today and tomorrow by participating in an online survey or attending an open house.
“Unwin Park is an integral part of the community, and this Council is committed to listening to residents as we plan for the park’s future,” said Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke on Monday. “Our parks play an important role in supporting active living, fostering community connections, and enhancing overall wellbeing. I encourage everyone to share their ideas and help shape a park that reflects the needs of our growing city.”
Unwin Park spans 15 hectares (36 acres) and features a wide range of amenities, including a water park, dog off-leash area, outdoor pool, sports fields, lacrosse boxes, games court, and Surrey’s largest inclusive playground.
Residents are invited to provide their feedback in two ways:
- Complete an online survey at surrey.ca/unwinpark, which will be open until December 7.
- Attend one of two open houses at the Newton Recreation Centre:
- Sunday, November 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Thursday, November 20 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The City of Surrey has over 800 parks, with more than 200 offering recreational amenities for residents. Other parks are dedicated to protecting natural areas, open space, and biodiversity as part of Surrey’s green infrastructure network.
