AS climate change fuels rising grocery bills across Canada, a grassroots solution is hitting the road: Canada’s first Mobile Farmers Market, says organizer Gagan Singh.
A new wave of research shows that extreme weather—heatwaves, droughts, floods—is pushing food prices higher than ever, he notes.
In response, BC farmers are uniting to launch the Mobile Farmers Market, a traveling marketplace that brings fresh, local produce directly into communities at prices that match or beat Costco or Superstore, he claims.

Gagan Singh it matters because of:
– Affordable Food for Families – Fresh BC-grown produce available at prices that compete with big-box stores.
– Supporting Local Farmers – Direct-to-community sales help farmers survive during one of the toughest times in BC agriculture.
– Resilient Communities – A step towards building food security as climate pressures make global supply chains less reliable.
“Every headline right now says the same thing—climate change is driving food prices higher. Families feel it every week at the checkout,” he says.
Families across the Lower Mainland are invited to shop, save, and support local farmers. “Together, we can fight rising grocery costs and strengthen our communities,” he says.
