Highway 99 in South Surrey open after serious collision (update)

UPDATE: The RCMP announced at 9:05 p.m. that Highway 99 in South Surrey is now fully reopened to all traffic 

 

SURREY RCMP are advising the public of road closures following a serious collision in the southbound lanes of Highway 99 in South Surrey.

On Thursday, December 23 at 1:09 p.m., Surrey RCMP received a report of a collision involving two vehicles in the 3100-block of Highway 99.  One male driver was transported to hospital in critical condition and a second driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collison Investigation Team (CCIT) has been called out to conduct an investigation into the cause of the collision.

Highway 99 southbound is closed at the 32 Avenue exit and all traffic is being re-routed onto 32 Avenue. Police ask you to avoid the area if possible as there will be heavy congestion. This closure will be in effect for an undetermined amount of time.
