LIBERAL MP Chandra Arya, who represents the Ontario riding of Nepean, on Thursday told MPs in the House of Commons to distinguish between the Hindu religious sacred symbol Swastika and the Nazi symbol of hatred called Hakenkreuz in German or the hooked cross in English.
Hindus in North America are upset that their religious symbol is being mistaken for the Nazi symbol of hatred called Hakenkreuz in German and express the fear that that may lead to violence against them.

Arya also distributed a Swastika brochure produced by the Coalition of Hindus of North America to all MPs and Senators to clarify the meaning of the symbol.
