PRODUCERS of the Honda Celebration of Light on Monday announced the postponement of the event for the second straight year due to the ongoing health crisis.
The Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society said the event will return bigger and better than ever for its milestone 30th season next year on July 23, 27 and 30.
“We understand the impact this decision will have on participating teams, the musicians and performers, our exhibitors, partners, sponsors and guests, but it’s simply not feasible this year to deliver the event in a safe manner,” said Michael McKnight, co-chair of the society.
The society noted that for almost three decades the Honda Celebration of Light has brought together British Columbians and guests from across Canada and around the world to watch in awe, to sing, to dance, and experience the magic of one of Canada’s most celebrated and popular events. What began as a fireworks competition has evolved into a cultural celebration for the region and an essential summer activity in Vancouver.
The society, in partnership with event producers, BrandLive Management Group, thanked the Province of British Columbia, the City of Vancouver, and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation for their ongoing support, and specially acknowledged Honda Canada, which has confirmed it will return as the title sponsor for the 30th anniversary event next year.
