UPDATE 6:40 P.M.
Squamish RCMP announced that on Sunday emergency crews located the body of one of the residents of the home directly involved. They had succumbed to their injuries. Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP spokesperson, said: “Emergency crews are continuing their search this evening for a second person associated with the home who remains unaccounted for.”
EMERGENCY crews in Squamish on Saturday, December 14 responded to a report of a mudslide which had occurred on Highway 99 beside the Brunswick Road exit ramp. As a result of the slide, one residence is believed to have been affected. Occupants of the home remain unaccounted for.
Emergency crews, RCMP, along with Heavy Duty Search and Rescue crews from Canadian Task Force 1, are on site.
Highway maintenance contractors are on scene completing a technical assessment along with Ministry of Transportation.
The highway has been reopened, however crews will remain on scene for the foreseeable time.
