IHIT called in after 71-year-old woman found deceased in Richmond home

ON Friday, April 26 at approximately 5 p.m., Richmond RCMP received a request for a wellbeing check at a residence in the 4900-block of Princeton Avenue. Police located a 71-year-old woman deceased inside her home. Evidence located at scene resulted in members apprehending the victim’s 38-year-old son, who was inside the residence.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the investigation and continues to work closely with the Richmond RCMP, the BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services.

“This is an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to the public,” said IHIT Sgt. Timothy Pierotti. “Anyone with information about the victim or anyone else involved in this incident is asked to contact IHIT immediately, as we work to build a timeline of events.”
