IHIT called in after fatal stabbing in Burnaby

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in after a stabbing in Burnaby that left one man deceased.

On Monday, June 17 at approximately 6:15 p.m., Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 3800-block of 1st Avenue (near Ingleton Avenue). When officers arrived on scene, they located an unconscious male victim on the ground with life-threatening injuries.

Burnaby Fire Department and Emergency Health Services also attended the scene. First responders attempted life-saving measures; however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police will remain on scene throughout the night and are asking the public to avoid the area while the investigation continues.

IHIT has taken conduct of the investigation.

Homicide investigators are looking to speak to any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam video in the area between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
