IHIT called in after Whalley shooting victim dies

SURREY RCMP announced on Friday night that the man shot in Whalley in the afternoon died in hospital and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in.

On April 1 at 2:27 p.m., police received a report of a shooting in the 12600-block of 97 Avenue. As police arrived on scene, they learned that a 48-year old man had been shot inside a residence. The victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Two suspects fled the scene on bikes and police quickly flooded the area. Surrey RCMP frontline officers, the Community Response Unit, and policing partners with the Lower Mainland Integrated Teams were able to track the movements of the suspects and take them into custody.

Conduct of the investigation is now being transitioned over to IHIT.
