ON March 2 at approximately 1 p.m., the New Westminster Police Department was called to Princess Street for a report of serious assault. Shortly after the reported incident a suspect was taken into custody.

The female victim has since died as a result of her injuries, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the investigation.

The New Westminster Police Department Victim Assistance Unit has been in contact with the family from the outset of this investigation and continues to provide them support.
