IHIT says identification of Langley victims, family notifications still underway

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said on Tuesday that the Langley crime scene where two deceased individuals were found on Monday is contained to a residence and the victims’ names are not being released at this time as identification and family notifications are still underway.

While the investigation is in its early stages, homicide investigators believe there is no ongoing risk to public safety and are still gathering evidence and establishing a timeline of events.

On April 27 at approximately 11:16 a.m., Langley RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious incident in the 21000-block of 16 Avenue in Langley. First responders from the Langley RCMP, Township of Langley Fire Department, and BC Ambulance Services attended the area and located the deceased individuals. IHIT was called in and assumed conduct of the investigation.

IHIT said it continues to work in close partnership with the Langley RCMP, Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Services to advance this investigation.

“We are liaising with our policing partners to canvass for CCTV, collect evidence, conduct interviews, and advance this investigation” says Constable Pratheep Thavarajah of IHIT. “Investigators continue to work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

As the investigation is still in its early stages, no additional information will be released at this time, police said.
