Impaired driver arrested while operating stolen vehicle in Abbotsford

JUST before 11 a.m. on Sunday, Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) patrol officers arrested a driver at Immel Plaza. Police said that as a result of proactive efforts, plainclothes officers located a stolen vehicle in the area. When the driver exited the vehicle, officers safely took the individual into custody.

Further investigation revealed the driver was not only operating a stolen vehicle, but was also impaired by alcohol. The 57-year-old man now faces criminal charges for possession of stolen property and impaired driving.

“This incident reflects the importance of proactive policing and ongoing vigilance within the community. AbbyPD continues to focus on identifying criminal activity and taking enforcement action to enhance public safety across Abbotsford,” Abbotsford Police said in a post on X.
