AS a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Consulate General of India in Vancouver organized a ceremony at the University of British Columbia (UBC) to pay floral tributes to Nobel Laureate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on his 162nd birth anniversary.

Officials from the Consulate General, faculty members of Department of Asian Studies at UBC, members of the Indian diaspora and UBC students offered floral tribute and spoke about the life and contribution of Tagore.

Some of his favourite poems were also sung by the students during the ceremony.

Tagore’s bust was installed at UBC in September 2002, with the support received from Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
