“Know Your Neighbour Day Walk” in Kamloops

Resumption of the annual “Know Your Neighbour Day Walk,” which was suspended since 2020 due to pandemic. This year’s Walk will be held Saturday, October 22 at 11 a.m., commencing at The Meeting of Waters Promenade, Riverside Park.  Refreshments will be provided.

The “Know Your Neighbour Day Walk” was started in 2012 by members of the local Sikh community honouring the birthdate of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, founder of the Sikh religion, and his universal message of our common humanity.

The Walk was initiated as a way of bringing peoples together in a spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood, toward building bridges to mutual understanding and friendship. We invite peoples of all backgrounds, creeds, faiths and ethnicities to unite together in solidarity and friendly relations for human rights, equity, inclusion and strength in diversity.

In the spirit of the Walk we invite and urge everyone to check-in on their neighbours and shut-ins in the spirit of caring, friendship and community solidarity represented by “Know Your Neighbour Day”.

We are proud to promote the friendly and welcoming spirit of the City of Kamloops and look forward to organizing the biggest and most successful “Know Your Neighbour Day Walk” in 2022.
