Langley homicide victim is 57-year-old Sarbjeet Sander

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified Thursday’s Langley homicide victim as 57-year-old Sarbjeet Sander and is seeking witnesses.

On February 10, around 1:30 a.m., Langley RCMP responded to a call in the 1700-block of 224 Street and located a deceased male victim. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in to investigate and is supported by the Langley RCMP Serious Crimes Section.

In order to further its investigation, IHIT released the victim’s name on Friday. It said that based on information gathered thus far, there appears to be no link to the ongoing Lower Mainland Gang Conflict. This incident is believed to be isolated and not random.

IHIT is working in partnership with the Langley RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS) and the BC Coroner Service. It continues to canvass and carry out witness interviews.

Homicide investigators are looking to speak with anyone who was in the area of 1700-block of 224 Street on February 10 around 1:30 a.m. and who may have heard or seen anything. Friends and associates of Sander are being asked to contact IHIT. Investigators are also seeking dash-cam footage from anyone who was on 224 Street between 16 and 40 Avenues between 11 p.m. on February 9 and 1:30 a.m. on February 10.

“There are people out there with knowledge of Mr. Sander,” said IHIT Sgt. David Lee. “Information about his activities and history will greatly help in determining what happened.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
