Law enforcement activity continues near Surrey’s Pacific Highway Border Crossing

SURREY RCMP announced on Saturday morning that the Pacific Highway Border Crossing is open and accessible to the public.  Due to ongoing protest activity in the area, police will be conducting vehicle check stops and non-local vehicles may be diverted.

Check stops are in place on all routes providing access to the Pacific Highway Border Crossing. Police are recommending that cross-border travelers and commercial vehicle traffic use alternate border crossings.

Surrey RCMP said they are continuously monitoring the protest activity that has been allegedly planned for Saturday in the area of the Pacific Highway Border Crossing. While police respect the right to protest, enforcement will be taken in the event protest activity becomes unlawful.

Surrey RCMP are working with provincial and federal RCMP units, the Canada Border Services Agency, and is receiving assistance from numerous police detachments.
