Male picked up by police after female sustains head injuries at Surrey residence  (update)

A male is in custody after a woman sustained head injuries at a residence in the 12800 block of 100th Avenue in Surrey.

At about 1 p.m. on Monday (January 26), Surrey RCMP received reports of a male threatening a female with a gun. Police found a female with injuries to the back of her head. She was transported to hospital in serious condition.

(Sources told The VOICE the victim as well as the male suspect were white.)

Officers were provided with the description of a male suspect who had reportedly fled on foot. This male was located and arrested near the location, unarmed and without incident.

Officers are currently on scene to conduct neighbourhood canvassing and speak with witnesses in order to obtain further information. Forensic Identification and Police Dog Services are assisting the investigation as well.

Officers are still in the early stages of their investigation, but believe the incident involves parties known to each other, said Cpl. Bert Paquet.

Pauquet told The VOICE on Thursday the victim had been released from hospital but was refusing to speak to the investigators.
